This French-like Resh is modern pronounciation, and this frontal Spanish-like is earlier, ancient pronounciation of Resh. Similarly with Chet, which previously was pronounced more in the back of the throat, with much exhail air coming out, and today it’s pronounced with a similar French-like sound. And the same goes with Bet, which today has two versions, Bet and Vet (distinguished by dot), but earlier it was stronger or softer “B” sound. And Vav previously sounded like “w” or “oo/u” in English.
