Here is the classic 1986 Shalom Sesame closing credits, along with the “Funky Chimes” funding tags. Enjoy!
O.K., early 90s. I stand corrected.
Actually, they stopped using them in 1992.
The “Funky Chimes” were used as the music behind the funding credits on Sesame Street from the early ’70s to, I think, the mid-90s.
Actually, the Funky Chimes had been used as early as 1973/1974.
You know, I actually do remember this ONE time way back in 1992, hearing the Funky Chimes over scrolling credits like in this video, but from that day forward, I never knew what it was for, and of course I thought it was really weird, since they were usually shown over the “pop-on” backers credits of the regular Sesame Street. So THIS is what they were for! I cannot believe that a question I have had for 20 years has finally been answered!
FUNKY CHIMES FTW
