I am looking for a video clip from “Shalom Sesame 4: The People of Israel”. Kippi remembers when a band came to the street, and the band wants him to help play the music…but Kippi doesn’t know how to play any instruments! However, the band sings him a song that shows him he can play a special instrument, singing!

we used to watch this in hebrew school! i rented every single one from the temple library. it was fantastic.

    6. Versigo

This opening theme always makes me realize how much I prefer the Israeli theme over the Amrican one 🙂

Wierd thing is Kippy is voice/acted by a guy, even though the voice is female, just listen…

Also this I believe was filmed at CTV in the US, especially with the number of American stars Shalom Sesame got for their show.

      LOVE THE THEME SONG

    12. beedleharrypotter

Kippy ben Kippod – a hedgehog equivalent of Big Bird on Sesame Street.
Moishe Oofnik – a brown grouch, similar to Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street, who lives in a broken car.

      Sarah Jessica Parker IS Jewish

    14. Brybenj

I remember this from preschool at the JCC.

When my kids were little, I bought a set of these videos for them. enjoyed watching them as much as they did! It was a great introduction to Israel and their Israeli “cousins” at that time! My kids have grown up (one is a mother herself!) and have been to Israel themselves now, but they still talk about these videos!

Oh my god, I’m shocked!!! I remember something about Isaac Perlman and I remember this opening of “Shalom Sumum”, but…Sarah Jessica Parker?!?! Oh My God!!! I realise I might have seen her back than but you know…it didn’t tell me anything back than, I was five! OH MY GOD! This is so funny!!! Seeing this now makes it look like some kind of a joke…LOL, and even LMAO!

      Kippie I love you!!!

It was dubbed. I actually remember catching an airing of this on TV once here in the US. Weirded me out because it was Sesame Street, in English, but with new characters and in English.

Wikipedia confirms that this particular season of the show (“Shalom Sumsum”) was actually recorded in English and intended for US broadcast.

    18. Jenna Neuman

It wasn’t dubbed. Its a completely new show in hebrew.

    19. secooper87

I could not figure out, when I got older, where I’d seen Sara Jessica Parker until I realized she was on this show!!! I’m so glad I did not dream this all up.

    20. MasterEiji

what you dont realize is that they flew it the wrong way around the earth…. the US ‘jet stream’ flows west-to-east..not the other way round…
but then again..it DOES make for good theater…

    21. singinginachurch

      Shalom Sesame!

    22. 16thinkpink16

      I &hearts SHALOM SESAME!

    23. MarshalGrover

When I saw these as a child, I loved the theme. Though I think them dubbing the WHOLE program in Herbrew kind of destroys the purpose of it.
